"Am I scared of the dark or NO?" Madeline asks me every time it's dark (or cloudy) with her face all scrunched up. I respond, "No, you are NOT scared of the dark." She says, "Oh, I think I am." The other night she came down after being tucked in crying, "I can't see, it's dark, I'm scared." (The bathroom light was on, so I am not too worried at this point.) She had only been in bed about 5 minutes so I sent her back to bed. I told her to turn on the very bright hall light and I would check on her in a few minutes. Upset that we wouldn't let her come down and watch TV she sulked back to her bed. When I went up to check on her the game room light was on, the hall light was on, the guest room (across from her room) light was on, the bathroom light was still on, and her bedroom light was on. "Why are ALL of the lights on?" "Because I didn't know which ONE you said to turn on!"
