Last night when we were driving home Madeline was asking about the storms, since we had some wind and rain from the hurricane. We are talking about creation this month at church and so I took the opportunity to talk about how God makes the rain and sends it to water the grass and plants and help them grow. She thought that was cool except she was disturbed because she's been hearing about "bad" storms with wind and rain that kills people. So before I could explain any more about weather and it not being God's fault exactly she pipes up with "God only makes GOOD storms not BAD storms that kill people - crocodiles make BAD storms that kill people, not GOD. It's the Crocodile's fault that storms kill people." So I continued to try explain and was met with "No mom (it's "mom" now when she's serious) =) it's the crocodiles it real is" (yes, real not really). So we decided that at three a little messed up theology is ok. Eventually she will realize that here in Dallas there are not any crocodiles and that there are NEVER any crocodiles up in the sky causing wind and rain and killing people. She does have a weird fascination with crocodiles though - not sure where it came from! Maybe the zoo.
