So a funny thing happened to the girls and I the other day. We were all three in the office, with the doors shut so Myah couldn't wander too far. When we came out after about 45 minutes, to my surprise the front door was wide open. This happens sometimes because it doesn't latch well. Scott was at the Drs getting diagnosed with flu and a sinus infection and Tank, our lovely 100lb lab was nowhere to be found. So I call him and then Madeline calls him and then Myah yells, what, I'm not sure. I checked out in the back before panicking. He wasn't there. I then allowed my self to panic because I have Myah, who's 1 and Madeline who is holding on to my back pants pocket and dragging her M&M backpack everywhere we went. At least the thing has wheels! I put Myah down and told Madeline, "Wait here with your sister" and ran out the open front door, yelling "Tank Come" at the top of my lungs. Of course Myah walked out of the house so Madeline followed her yelling, "Myah, wait, we can't go." I called Scott hoping that he was almost home and could look for the dog. Of course he was at Target pharmacy which didn't have what he needed and then he had to wait for 45 minutes at Wal Greens. Tank would have been long gone by then. Well, thankfully I spotted the mutt down the street and yes, he was peeing on the neighbor's house. So, as I glanced back and realized the girls were in the driveway and the next door neighbor was pulling into their driveway, I had the presence of mind to grab Myah before running after Tank. Madeline took that opportunity to grab my back pocket again and so the three of us, and I'm pretty sure the bright green M&M backpack on wheels, take off running (if you can call it that) down the road. Tank finished peeing and paused to watch us coming at him. Now I'm yelling and Madeline is echoing, "Tank, come get a treat! Tank come eat!" since food is the only thing that will cause him to come back into the house. So we are a few houses down by now, did I mention the neighbor is sitting in his car, in his driveway watching me lug the 25lb one year old and drag the 45lb four year old (and backpack) down the street, all the time yelling like a crazy woman? Tank finally decides that treats are worth coming home and takes off running at us and then of course dodges when I reach for his collar. It was a great bonding experience for the whole family. The neighbor finally pulled into his garage as I walked the four of us through the open front door. I, being the graceful person that I am, smiled and waved at the neighbor that didn't offer to help when I most obviously needed it! Maybe he would have offered if Tank had peed on his house. Tank got his treat. Madeline still has the backpack. Myah held on for dear life. I was ready to give the dog away to the lowest bidder! Needless to say, the front door is locked shut!

Aren't pets fun! I often wonder why we have them. Oh now I remember, before kids we had the time and energy for them!
