Strong horses

I read this morning that God's not impressed with strong horses or powerful people. Who buys a weak, skinny horse? He is impressed with people that fear Him and put their hope in His unfailing love. If this is the case, why as humans do we strive to be great - strive to be the best. Be the best at whatever it is that you do! Isn't that the American dream? Apparently that's not God's dream. He wants people to fear Him and trust in Him. He is the one that puts kings in power and takes them out again. He's the one who gives us the very breath that we breath. This year for my I am learning to be completely dependent on Him. Seems like every lesson I'm learning it comes back to this - fear God and put my hope in His unfailing love. Depend on Him for all my needs - "Give us today our daily bread". In and of myself I am not even a speck on the time line of eternity but through the power of the Holy Spirit I can do whatever God has planned for me. If I am depending on Him, fearing Him, putting my hope in Him then I am right where He wants me and He can use me for His purpose.
