Today at breakfast I had the sweetest conversation with Madeline. She had lost cartoon privileges for something so the tv was off. We were discussing that God loved everyone. She wanted to know if He also loved the bad guys. I told her that He did, He just didn't like what they did. 

She said in a very concerned voice, "Mommy, are the bad guys going to be in heaven?" I'm sure she was worried about the safety of Heaven. =) 

I said, "Well, if they ask God to forgive them and ask Jesus in their heart to be their friend then yes, they will. But they won't be bad guys any more." 

She said, "Well, if bad guys aren't in heaven what'll they do? They don't get to be with their mommies anymore?" 

I replied with, "If they aren't sorry that they are bad then they are separated from God and that is very sad." (I sure wasn't going to teach her the word 'hell' yet). 

Madeline - "Yeah that would be sad. Jesus is in my heart! (thumping on her chest) You know the 'beep-beep beep-beep' that your heart makes?" 

Me - "yes" 

Her - "That's Jesus making that noise so you know He's there!" (Nodding furiously) "It real is Jesus!"

 Me, without the heart to correct her theology - "Isn't that great that God makes our heart beat!" 

Madeline - "yep, pretty cool!"
