"I'm telling on you!"
From the other end of the house I hear Mason coming like I imagine a big brown bear could be heard charging an intruder, "I'm telling Mama on you!" Stomp. Stomp. Stomp. I calmly say, "What's the matter Mason?" Mason yells, "Myah has all the tigers and I wanted to play them. She hurt my feelings!" Now we all know that his feelings aren't hurt - he just wants his way. As adults, most of us don't stomp around hollering at people, "You aren't doing what I think you should be doing!" although that would be fun sometimes! Most of the time, call it tact or maturity or biting your tongue, we put a calm expression on our faces and deal with the issue. What's going on in our hearts is a different matter altogether. I came across a verse in Psalms that I have never highlighted, in fact, most of Psalm 28 is unhighlighted and I like to highlight! Psalm 28:3 describes wicked people as people who "Speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts." Ouch! I know for a fact that I have done this and so has everyone that I know. When we don't deal with our hearts and we just try to manage a situation that leads to malice in our hearts. Jesus said several times that to enter the kingdom of God we must be like little children. Maybe one of those characteristics He was talking about was honesty. I'm not suggesting go around yelling and stomping like a bear but I am saying if we were more honest with each other there would be less of a chance to harbor malice in our hearts and be considered wicked by God. May my cordial words match my heart!
