Money is a Myth
Don't get me wrong money I like money and I agree that it makes life easier but money is a myth that man has created - not God. Psalm 39:6, "He (people) bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it." And in verse 11 King David says, "You (God) consume their wealth like a moth-each man is a breath." Of course I could list verse after verse that talks about wealth and money being fleeting. Day after day thousands of people get up and work hard to make a living for their families. Our society makes it hard on a one income family. We are a very career oriented country. Working hard isn't a bad thing, it's necessary, but at what cost? What if we put as much effort into our families? What if we spent as much quality time with our kids and our husband/wife as we do with our jobs? As I read Ps 39 this morning all I could think of was people chasing after something that couldn't do anything for them. Money brings me comfort here on this earth but when I die my money stays here. And then what? We were created to have a relationship with God. He wants us to seek after Him - not money, wealth, comfort or all the things that seem to consume us. I don't think it's necessary to go overboard and burn our money =) but perhaps a priority check is in order.
