Blessing seekers

We live in an age where the term "blessings" is thrown around quite a bit. God's blessing this or that. If you do this or that God will bless you. As Americans we tend to think of blessings in a monetary way. If our finances are secure then God must be blessing us. Which could very well be the case but it's not the whole blessing. Psalm 67 is praising God for His blessings. Here's what verse 1 and 2 say, "May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that Your ways may be known to on earth, your salvation among all nations." God's blessings are not actually about me. He blesses me so that His glory will be seen. A blessed life is a life full of His presence, truth, love, guidance and peace. He doesn't promise me an easy life full of money but He does promise me a life full of His Spirit and His goodness. Money's not bad and there are some times when He does immensely bless finances, but money's not His focus. His focus is verse 7 "God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him." He wants the people around us to know Him, so He blesses us with full lives, no matter the circumstances we face. "May the peoples praise you, O God' may all the peoples praise you." (PS 67:5)
